REVIEW: DEDAENA BAR

REVIEW

Situated in Dedaena Park near Book Corner Café and Bauhaus, Dedaena Bar has rapidly made a name for itself in the hectic Tbilisian nightlife since its opening in 2018. The bar is hosting local djs every night and is actively supporting the bloom of the Georgian hiphop scene with the Sunday HipHop nights, a reference for newcomers in the rap game, dancers and hip-hop lovers.

The affordable drinks, the cozy atmosphere created by the circular terrace facing the river, and the greeneries covering the walls make Dedaena an ideal pre-party location. The place rapidly became more and more popular and luckily got twice bigger last September with the extension of the dancefloor and the opening of a new chill room.

Dedaena is now open during the day for all the coffee addicts and the hungry stomachs in search of a relaxing space to chill, work and enjoy good veggie food. Tasty vegetarian restaurants and world-food places are quite rare in meat-eating Georgia, but Dedaena is surely setting new standards both in terms of quality and of diversity.

The chef Vakhtan Devdariani has worked in many countries around the world and brought back home his best recipes. The menu offers Ethiopian, Middle Eastern, Japanese, Korean, Indonesian, Korean and Moroccan food along with some classics snacks, soups, and desserts. This healthy and colorful cuisine is heartwarming, especially now that winter has come over Tbilisi. The portions are generous, and as for the bar, the menu is very affordable with nothing costing more than 20 lari.

The chill room, opening on Dedaena skate parc is nicely decorated with vintage furniture. It’s a bright space, with many power outlets, making it a perfect place to work and study during the day. With the numbers of foreign freelancers and students settling in Georgia, Dedaena is an ideal location to get things done before treating yourself with a well-deserved drink and some good music!
