Pirvani’s Forgotten Sister
Surrounded by snow cap mountain peaks and green plains, Tsalka Lake is a cradle of calm in Georgia. Found just 30 km northeast of Pirvani Lake, the biggest lake in Georgia, Tsalka Lake is often overlooked by visitors. However, the serene peaceful waters are a dream for those who like the great outdoors.
Quaint villages flank the shores of the lake: the quiet village of Tbeti to the south, Tsintskaro to the west, Santa to the north and Beshtasheni to the east. Here, you can easily pick up supplies for a day of hiking, cycling, driving or fishing at the lake. To get to Tsalka, the Tbilisi-Kojori-Tsalka-Ninotsminda road from Tbilisi arrives at the lake in just under two hours by car. There are also minibuses.
Tsalka’s lack of visitors only adds to its charm, as you can enjoy the wilderness all to yourself.
