40 minutes outside Kutaisi is the village of Didi Jikhaishi, in the Samtredia Municipality. The museum, established in 1958, is in the former home of public figure and scientist Niko Nikoladze (1843-1928), dedicated to his life and works.
In the museum, there are a variety of household goods from Germany, Great Britain, Austria, the United States, and Russia, as well as an impressive library. There are also many examples of new technologies from the early 20th century, imported from abroad, including a 1910 wind machine, a German washing machine, a first edition Kodak camera, and a sun-dial. The museum also displays works by Nikoladze in various languages, newspaper articles written by him, and more.
The museum building holds the status of “Immovable Monument of Cultural Heritage.”
