A bit hard to find, but worth the hunt. Museum Shop is a very Georgian, very local, very delicious underground restaurant about a block back from Rustaveli Ave. It’s just around the corner from artsy and cool Sofia Melnikova’s, but is neither of those things. The theme here is fast, cheap, good. 

Museum Shop is my go-to on a cloudy day for a pick me up lobio (beans) in a pot and Laghidze water. The warm red brick interior is homey and comfortable.

The name comes from the small display of Georgian folk memorabilia – traditional clothing, musical instruments, and old photographs. There is also a nice collection of wine for sale and sampling. Museum Shop also offers great people watching as locals come in to grab lunch and chat with the friendly women behind the counter when it’s not too busy.
