Grandpa Basili or “Papa Basili” – papa is grandfather in eastern Georgia – is a newer café located in the ski resort town of Gudauri. 

It has a cozy wood and brick interior, perfect for cold days on the slopes. Warm up with classic Georgian dishes like khinkali (go for the “mountain recipe” option!) and mtsvadi barbecue. 

The restaurant specializes in beer, offering several varieties on draught and pairing them with a “special beer menu” made to complement a cold, frothy pint. You can also enjoy the scenery sitting outside on the terrace. For a special treat on a winter morning, come here for breakfast – they have a surprisingly large breakfast menu – and sip your coffee outside, or at least by the windows!
