Despite the untraditional spelling of the Georgian word for “hello” (generally written gamarjoba), this restaurant represents some of the best of traditional Georgian food and culture. 

Located near Uplitsikhe, just outside Gori, Gamardjoba has a lovely setting surrounded by trees and the rocky cliffs of the ancient cave city complex. It is a frequent stop for tour groups and the occasional host of weddings, when the venue is draped in white silks and fresh cut flowers. 

The brick oven makes excellent mtsvadi (bbq), complimented by house wine and fresh tone bread. Sometimes they even have live music!
