Like the famed Jvari monastery, this early 7^th century church sits on a hilltop overlooking a river- in this case the Tana, 10 km south of the city of Gori.

The green-grey stones on its façade are beautifully decorated with various ornaments and the walls inside display 9^th-11^th century inscriptions of the early Georgian alphabet.
