On Sunday 5, Tbilisi's Rike Park will host a large celebration for children and adults, taking all visitors on a journey to the European Union through a variety of fun activities.

Europe Day is celebrated each year on May 9, to commemorate the 1950 Declaration of Robert Schuman, the French foreign minister at the time. He set out his idea for a new form of political cooperation in Europe, which would make war between Europe's nations unthinkable by asking them to share their coal and steel reserves. This idea was the beginning of what is now the European Union, which has united 28 countries and 508 million citizens for over 60 years of peace and prosperity.

This year's Europe Day in Georgia will be held under the motto "Stronger Together" to highlight the strong relations between Georgia and the European Union.

There will be stands of 20 EU Member States that will help guests find out more about how the EU is creating opportunities for Georgian citizens. Children will find prizes, fairy tale performances and games to play. Parents can enjoy the all-day cultural programme and sample food from diverse European nations, and young and old are invited to take part in a streetball competition, dance and enjoy evening concerts by 33a and DJ Nicole Set.
