On 26th March, Mose Toidze's House Museum will open the Vietnamese Corner, the initiative of which is the great friend of the museum, Trang Regner.
Georgia’s friendship with Vietnam started in the 1960s when a Soviet Union delegation visited Vietnam. The aim of the visit was to promote cultural dialogue. The head of the delegation was a famous Georgian literary critic, publicist, one of the founders of Georgian film studio and foreign language institute and its first rector – Vladimir, (Vova) Machavariani (son-in-law of Mose Toidze). As Vova recalled , the Vietnamese were so excited by this meeting that they gave different gifts to him. Among them are traditional Vietnamese hats "Noon La" and a portrait of him by a Vietnamese painter.
Trang Regner will donate a Dong Ho wood cut painting block to Toidze museum to enrich the Vietnamese collection.
To honuor the friendship between Vietnam and Georgia, the Mose Toidze Museum and Trang Regner decided to cooperate to open a Vietnamese corner to tell about the friendship of the two countries and to display the most important folk art block painting in Vietnamese culture ("Dong Ho" wood cut painting).
"We hope the new Vietnamese corner in the Toidze Museum house will be a meeting place for Vietnamese and Georgian cultures and will allow a growing up of the connection between the two countries," the parties stated.
With the "Dong Ho" wood cut block painting donated by Trang Regner, the Mose Toizde Museum will make more interesting events for kids and students to learn how to make Vietnamese wood cut painting, learn about and enjoy Vietnamese culture.
