In the old districts of Tbilisi you'll find a scattering of small galleries striving to create spaces for contemporary Georgian art, painting, sculpture and enamel.
You can also see 20th century Georgian painting, which not only reflects the local character but also shows the influence of European or Asian styles.
Near the Dry Bridge open market, you'll find stalls selling a variety of Georgian folk paintings and handicraft items which might take your fancy or make nice souvenirs of your visit.
Other galleries are to be found in the narrow streets around the city. Most present Georgian works; some are increasingly working towards exchange visits with foreign artists showcasing their works. Keep an eye on their facebook pages for the latest exhibitions.
