Dadiani Street just off Liberty (Freedom) Square, used to be known as the place to go for some good, hot khinkali or khashi the morning-after. In the past few years, however, and especially since the square was renovated and revitalized, the street has become home to some of the best wineries in the city (with even more just a few streets away). If wine is your thing, then look no further than this little corner of the city. Let’s take a look.
DADI WINE BAR
One of them is Dadi Bar was opened by culinary and wine lovers who are professionals in HoReCa field.
Dadi is just two steps from Liberty Square on the shady side of the street, has huge windows, a couple of chairs outside and a simple minimalistic design inside. The shelves and sturdy tables are always full of new wine arrivals.
The owners often go on tasting and purchasing trips to the wineries all around Georgia in order to pick out something really special for customers. Don’t expect those pearls of local winemaking to be cheap: here you'll get middle and upper-class wines.
The food is also quite special. Nothing overcomplicated, but everything is created to be paired with wines, and tastes simply great. Where.ge recommends the chocolate Saperavi cake and homemade cheese cake as a crown of your visit to Dadi Bar.
OPEN
Monday: 2 PM - MIDNIGHT, Tuesday – Sunday: 10 AM – MIDNIGHT
VINOMANIA
The store is easy to spot: the ‘What’s on a Man’s Mind after Wine? sign and infamous illustration of the balding man/nude lady, if not the black-on-yellow ‘Vinomania’ will certainly catch your eye!
Dadiani Street boasts both a recently-opened store and, on the corner of the same block, a restaurant. Both are worth your time, offering a huge and delicious selection of wine to taste and buy, with reliable, friendly and knowledgeable staff to guide you in your choice. The Where.ge team recommends their house wine.
The atmosphere in both store and restaurant (both of which are below-ground) is cozy and warm, and the smiley, welcoming staff will guarantee a great time for you and your friends.
WINELAB
Another easy-to-spot for the car parked in front with a Qvevri wine vessel on top, here the trained sommeliers offer friendly, helpful service as you seek to delve into the world of Georgian wine varieties (of which they have literally hundreds)!
Enjoy the cozy, stylish atmosphere and floor-to-ceiling shelves of wine, alone or with a friend or business partner. Highly recommended and they are generous with the samples!
