KUTAISI INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

Here at Where.ge, it is our aim to make your journey through Georgia as smooth as possible. Thus, we thought we’d give you a little bit of info if you are to arrive or depart from Kutaisi Airport in Western Georgia. Low-cost Carrier Wizzair have now introduced Kutaisi as one of their basis, meaning that the airport is seeing more flights to more European destinations. Worried about arriving in the middle of Georgia and not going how to get around? Fear not! We’ve made it nice and simple for you.

All flights arriving and departing at Kutaisi Airport are connected by transportation via the company Georgian Bus (www.georgianbus.ge). Buses leave curb side 45 minutes after flights land, and will take you to either Tbilisi, Batumi, Kazbegi, Kutaisi city center and Mestia (seasonal). Buses to Tbilisi take 4 hours and stop once along the way near Gori. Seats are comfortable, handy as most flights land at rather unsociable hours, thus giving you the chance to catch some much-needed shut eye! Buses arrive in Tbilisi at 7.30am next to Pushkin Bank on Liberty Square, central Tbilisi.

Upon your return, buses leave Pushkin park Tbilisi 7 hours before your scheduled time of departure from Kutaisi This allows for the 4 hour journey and gets you to the airport 3 hours before your flight leaves. All buses are connected to departures, so you can relax knowing you will be in time for your flights.

Ticket prices vary depending on which direction you are travelling, but a return to Tbilisi costs 20 Lari one way, but if you book your return together, you will save around 4 Lari.

Georgian Railway are currently constructing a new rail-link between the capital and Kutaisi airport, set for completion later this year. This line will drastically decrease travel time between the two cities. Keep your eyes peeled for more, you’ll hear it here first!
