Itsik Moshe, President of the Israel-Georgia Chamber of Business and founder and Chair of Israeli House, reveals five he recommends to tourists visiting Georgia, with a focus on the age-old Jewish-Georgian relations. 


"The Israeli House has been implementing a Council of Europe certified Jewish Cultural Heritage Route in Georgia, curated by the Council of Europe's Association for Jewish Culture and Heritage Preservation (AEPJ), for the third year. The Israeli House created a special map, where Jewish monuments and settlements existing on Georgian territory are marked.

Organized by the Israeli House, a number of Israeli and Jewish groups pass the route each year. They are provided with safe transportation, Kosher meals and other essential services."

TBILISI 

The capital of Georgia with 1500 years of history, unique architecture, multinational culture, sights and cultural institutions, museums, theaters, operas ... Tourists in Tbilisi will taste traditional Georgian dishes and unique wines. In ancient Tbilisi, Jews have lived for centuries.

There are several synagogues here, two of them still operating. There are several Kosher restaurants in Tbilisi. With the support of the Israeli House, a Kosher wine route has been established in Georgia, which is part of the European Kosher Wine Route. The high quality Kosher wine is produced by the wine company Badagoni.


MTSKHETA 

An ancient city of Georgia, with unique architecture, landscapes and monuments. Here the Jews settled in ancient times. Jewish artefacts are preserved in the Mtskheta Historical Museum. The city is a few kilometers from Tbilisi. Here, you can taste traditional Georgian dishes and wines


KAKHETI

A region of eastern Georgia famous for its unique grape varieties and wine production. The cities of Kakheti - Telavi, Sighnaghi, Kvareli, are distinguished by their architecture, sights and other attractions. In Kakheti, the famous company Badagoni produces Kosher wine.


LAILASH

Is a mountainous village in western Georgia, in the Racha region. This place is distinguished by its nature.  The village was historically inhabited by Jews. This is the place where a unique tenth-century Hebrew Bible was discovered. The synagogue is still preserved here.


AJARA

The western Georgia seaside region with a semi-tropical climate and resort towns. In Ajara, in particular in Batumi, small Jewish communities and synagogues are preserved. One of the synagogues, with unique paintings, is on the verge of collapse. The Israeli House, along with civil society, is involved in its restoration campaign.
