The Badagoni dry red “Alaverdi Tradition” has been rated among the Top 100 wines of the world at the prestigious Sydney International Wine Competition in Australia for the first time.
Expert judges from Australia, New Zealand, Switzerland, the USA, and France judged the wines from all over the world. Each wine undergoes several assessments. Firstly, the jury evaluates the wine during a blind tasting method. If the wine passes this round, it is judged once more, before entering into the final food pairing phase.
It is known to be one of the toughest competitions in the world. It is a great achievement for Badagoni to have entered into the top 100 wines list and be awarded ‘winner’.
The press release of Badagoni read, “Badagoni victory is truly a huge achievement, as the competition criteria and process is quite difficult. Each wine had to go through several assessment phases. Regardless of the intense competition, Badagoni’s ‘Alaverdi Tradition’ managed to receive the award of winner.”
The Sydney International Wine Competition has taken place annually for almost 40 years. Georgia has high hopes to see more of its wines featuring in the top 100 in the future.
