Still feeling the cold? Need something special to recharge your batteries after a day skiiing on the Georgian slopes? Why not give these a try?
CHACHA
Chacha is a traditional Georgian grape brandy which has been produced and consumed for centuries. Like its Italian shelf-mate Grappa, and other similar alcohol products, it is made from the pomace (in Georgian: chacha) left after preparing wines. With a centuries-long history, tradition and popularity, Chacha is one of those trademarks that the Georgian culture is proud of, just like Georgian cuisine with its Khachapuri, Khinkali, Churchkhela, Satsivi, and more.
MULLED WINE
Though not a Georgian tradition, the fact that Georgia is a winemaking country means the western concept of heating red wine with spices has become Increasingly popular in recent years.
TURKISH COFFEE
Named for its country of origin, this small cup of rocket fuel is a favorite in offices, cafes and homes all over Georgia. It is commonly made in specialized plastic kettles (coffee powder, water and sugar boiled together), but the tradition is to brew the coffee more slowly by nestling a coffee pot a few inches into a bed of heated sand. The slower preparation makes “Sand Coffee” smoother and more flavorful.
