A product of German architecture, Georgian Billionaire Bidzina Ivanishvili pulled off a PR stunt when he commissioned the Black Sea Arena, the biggest concert hall in the Caucasus region, which opened in 2016 with Christina Aguilera.
Now, music lovers across the country and even from neighboring countries flock to the Black Sea coast to join the music fun. Located right next to the small beach town of Shekvetili, it offers space to over 10,000 people.
Adjacent to the arena, an impressive park stretches out accumulating the best musicians of Georgia and the West. From world-renowned composers such as Beethoven and Mozart to big shots in Georgian classical music such as Viktor Dolizde, who created the first Georgian comic opera called “Keto and Kote”; music aficionados won’t struggle to indulge in their favorites. Round, concrete-paved areas surrounded by wooden benches exhibit the artists in the form of statues, while speakers right next to them blast out their masterpieces.
Elton John is one of the most popular areas with guests. In June, the lucky few who managed to snap up tickets will get to see him on stage. All others will have to make do with his singing statue in the park outside.
