Located about two hours west of the capital, Borjomi is a very special place. Having only ever seen it on a snowy winter’s day, I was immediately put under a spell by its unique charm. Out for a midnight stroll in the midst of a pleasant snow storms- you know, those that are a joy to be a part of; Mother Nature blessing you with simple snow rather than trying to murder you with blizzards and crazy winds -Borjomi Central Park and the walk to the outdoor thermal pools, remains one of my happiest memories. The outdoor hot pools are quite something, offering a blissful escape from the frosty weather. The Park is also home to the new Patron Saint and lifeblood of my daily existence: Borjomi Mineral Water, a sparkling goodness that is the solution to anything and everything.
Make sure to treat yourself at Inka Cafe before or after (or before and after), your trip into the Park. Located on the road leading to the Park, it’s the best spot for Khachapuri, coffee and cake in town — the homemade pizzas aren’t too shabby either! With a friendly multi-lingual staff and a cozy wooden, European interior, Inka Cafe is a favorite of both locals and tourists (and their raspberry tart is to die for !)
