CINECLUB TO SCREEN BIG GREEN VALLEY

On the 17 April at 7PM, Amirani cinema will host the Tbilisi CineClub screening of the Georgian film 'Didi Mtsvane Veli (Big Green Valley)- 1967.

Directed by Merab Kokochashvili, who will be present after the screening to answer your questions, the film tells the story of Sosana, a shepherd who lives with his family in the village and with great respect and love continues his heritage, doing the work of his ancestors'. Sosana can't even imagine another life: nature, village, big green valley and family- this is his treasure, his world and his everyday life.

Then geologists start oil exploration works in his village and modern civilization bursts into Sosana's world with all its noise and disruption. Sosana is against the changes and its being forced into his big, green valley boding the destruction of everything he holds dear. 

Institute for Film and Video Art "Arsenal" restored and digitalized this Georgian film in 2017. Big Green Valley will be shown in renewed format with English subtitles.

Tickets cost 3 GEL and can be bought in the Amirani box office or on www.kinoafisha.ge. A 2 GEL donation towards the costs of hosting the director is requested from each attendee, to be given on the night.
