HIKING TO GERGETI GLACIER

Kazbegi is the gateway to the magnificent Caucasus mountains. A paradise for walkers, seasoned hikers head here all year round to explore Georgia’s beautiful nature. Walking from Stepantsminda village to Gergeti Glacier is a popular hike. The route leads past Gergeti Trinity Church, one of the most iconic churches in Georgia.

The beautiful hike starts from the village. It will lead you 7 - 8 hours through green hills and mountains with amazing views of Mount Kazbek and the Gergeti glacier. The walk is physically demanding - you will ascend and descend 1600 meters. Make sure you come well prepared. You can hire a guide from Stepantsminda, although the path is well-trodden and you will meet other walkers on-route.
