(Seriously Good Megrelian Cuisine!)

If you find yourself in Zugdidi, it would be a huge mistake to miss out on the local cuisine that makes Samegrelo top the list of the must-see destinations in Georgia. Diaromi is a must; be sure to try their Megrelian ‘Kharcho’ soup – whilst relatively tame in Tbilisi, the traditional recipe for this dish is SPICY!

Whilst not to everyone’s taste, ‘Ghomi’ is unique, if nothing else. Made with cornflour and also available mixed with local cheese, it resembles nothing you’ve ever tried before. (If you order it with cheese, the name changes to ‘Elarji’)

The best is saved till last: Baje. This sauce is made with walnuts and is absolutely out of this world. You can order the sauce online or with meat, normally chicken. Diaromi does the best in Zugdidi, a must-taste!
