Georgia was recognized as cradle of wine by UNESCO and archaeologists have proven that approximately 8000 years ago, the locals already knew how to make wine from cultivated grapes. Today, Qvevri winemaking is still being practiced to its best.
8000 Vintages is a symbol of the unbroken Georgian tradition of producing wine. And some really outstanding samples from big factories and smaller farmers are available for tasting and buying. A very spacious shop area is separated from a cozier tasting area, and accommodates hundreds, if not thousands of wine bottles that vary from very affordable to really rare and expensive ones.
For the tasting, you can also order various plates – cheese, meat, bread and oil, churchkhela and fruits… It’s also possible to order a glass of Wine of the Day and enjoy it in the quite atmosphere away from the touristic hype.
