Veliaminov is a traditional Georgian restaurant with traditional Georgian food and traditional Georgian service. It is located in a standard Old Tbilisi brick-lined basement which gives it a cozy, homey feel. 

It was once known to have the best khinkali in Tbilisi, and you can still see it packed most nights with locals and tourists hunched side by side over plates of steaming, shining Georgian dumplings. They also have other good dishes – try the kharcho for a hearty stew. 

The prices are reasonable, but don’t expect western style service.
