MUSEUM OF QVEVRI

One of the most interesting private museums in Georgia, the Museum of Qvevriis located inNapareuli village. It was established by twin brothers Gela and Gia Gamtkitsulashvili who decided to continue the long winemaking tradition of their family.

After getting an education in engineering, both decided to take different directions and study at the Winemaking Institute, finding that the practical knowledge from childhood was not enough. Several years later, in 2005, they started producing wine in Qvevri, large clay vessels that are produced in a specific way and then buried underground, serving as a womb for new wine.

As you arrive at the Twins Wine House of the Gamtkitsulashvili brothers, check out the interactive exhibition that shows all the stages of Qvevri wine production, then enjoy some of that special wine. Understanding the technology is important for understanding wine itself. Napareuli microzone is great for growing both white and red, so you are guaranteed to love the intense taste and flavor.

The museum and tasting can be also combined with master classes in churchkhela and bread-making, but you should book in advance.
