AZARPHESHA

This kingdom of natural wines and the delicacies to pair with your choice is owned by Poliphonia’s John Wurdemann, an American who once came to Georgia, stayed here and brought fame to local winemaking, having caused quite a hype in the USA.

The restaurant looks like a cozy, eclectic dining room, and is usually busy in the evenings, so think about making a reservation in advance, especially around the weekend. Why do people love it so much? Because it was made with love and dedication.

Order a simple plate of pkhali and pickles and you can be sure that those pickles were made by the culinary team of Azarphesha, and not bought in a shop. The pasta will be homemade, too. The cheese will be from villages that John and his people regularly visit, and of course, there will be wine of Peasant’s Tears, Wurdemann’s winery in Sighnaghi (Kakheti region).

Organic wines are paired with exclusive dishes – veal, quince and prune stew, wild mushrooms baked with flame-roasted tomatoes and basil, chicken baked in apricot glaze… Also, every Wednesday at 8 pm there are special tasting menus available on reservation. The tasting and pairing experience is expensive, but it tastes like heaven!
