With the ongoing campaign Visit Georgia, it’s most likely that this year the astounding mountains of Svaneti will be an even more popular destination. Interesting all year round, Svaneti hosts skiers in winter and hikers in summer, alongside those who just want to explore and absorb the culture and history of this incredible region. The options for stays are increasing with the flow of tourists, but here are our favorites so far.

Nino Ratiani's Guesthouse is located in Mestia, 25 km from El'brus. Guests can enjoy the on-site restaurant and free Wi-Fi offered throughout the property. A free shuttle service and gift shop at the property add to guest comfort, as does private parking available on site. Guests can enjoy various activities in the surroundings, including skiing and cycling. The guest house offers bike hire and, in our opinion, is located in the best part of Mestia. Independent reviews show that couples particularly like the location, rating it 9.0 for a two-person trip. The place is clean, the staff is helpful and because of its location – being close to a hiking trail, it’s rather easy to meet new people there.

IRMA, BESO & ALEKO KHERGIANI'S GUESTHOUSE
This guesthouse is another popular choice. Tourists love the place and the hosts really give a nice, warm Georgian welcome. Featuring a garden, BBQ facilities and rooms with garden views, this guesthouse has a bonus in being just 1.1 km from the renowned Museum of History and Ethnography. Among the other facilities on offer at this property are a restaurant, free Wi-Fi, a 24/7 front desk and luggage storage space. Every room has a patio offering a great view of the mountains and there is a shared bathroom equipped with a bathtub. The Mikhail Khergiani House Museum is 1.3 km from the guesthouse. Couples particularly like the location, having rated it 8.8 for a two-person trip. This guesthouse is also budget-friendly. Pets are allowed without any extra fee!
