PAM KEMSLEY'S TOP GUESTHOUSES

Pamela Kemsley, Managing Director of Education & Training International (ETI), gave Where.ge her Top 3 recommendations of where to stay when you're on  a budget.

Brigitta Hotel, Signaghi, Kakheti

Nestling within the walls of the historic crenellated city of Signaghi is Hotel Brigitta. A three-storey hotel which also boasts a cellar, several terraces and a swimming pool and has arguably one of the best views over the Alazani Valley in Kakheti. The rooms are comfortable, simply furnished and have ensuite bathrooms. It’s also ideally placed for visiting everything in Signaghi on foot!

Shamo, Gudauri

Shamo is the only place I stay when I go to Gudauri. Shamo is a family run guesthouse also known widely and affectionately as Gela’s, after its incredibly hard-working and friendly host, Gela Burduli, Shamo literally means  “Come In”. The home-made breakfasts and dinners are amazing, the rooms comfortable and warm and in the evenings by a roaring fire in the cosy snug playing cards, board games, singing songs or just chewing the fat with other guests- these are some of my best memories in Georgia…the perfect skiing place, although they are open all year round and it’s also a great hiking base for other times of the year.

Savaneti Hotel, near Telavi

Savaneti Hotel is very well placed for visiting Telavi and other parts of Kakheti including Ikalto (only 3km away) and Alaverdi. Small but well equipped rooms, a good restaurant and a good size swimming pool, Savaneti is ideally located for exploring Kakheti.
