The Guardian Names Tbilisi’s Art-Café Home One of Europe’s Best Rooftop Bars
Recently, The Guardian published an article titled 10 of the best rooftop bars in Europe: readers’ travel tips.
The unranked list included none other than Tbilisi’s own Art-Café Home – an uber cool bar that stretches over three floors, ending on the rooftop with spectacular old town views.
Friday and Saturday nights feature some of Europe and Georgia’s best DJs, making Home is the place to see and be seen. Young revelers stumble through the dark, smoky, neon-lit rooms, laughing and dancing, bursting onto the rooftop for a moment of fresh air and reorientation.
The recommendation was submitted to The Guardian by ‘tipster’ James Fawcett, who said “After entering what seems like an abandoned club cloakroom through an unmarked door, climb the stairs to find the Art-Café Home rooftop. With comfy sofas, a chilled vibe and friendly locals, this bar is the perfect place to enjoy standard cocktails with a distinctly Georgian twist (cha-cha, a Georgian equivalent of grappa, features heavily). Best of all, it is a great spot to view the eclectic architecture of Tbilisi – the medieval fortress, crumbling Soviet houses and enormous modern constructions.”
Where.ge reviewer Máté Földi wrote about his experience at Art-Café/Home, praising the “absolutely incredible cocktails — by far the best I’ve had anywhere in Georgia. The Vega and Vodka Julep are definitely my personal recommendations.” He also blamed the bartenders’ generosity for his inability to try more of the cocktails, hitting his limit at four. Földi also loved the décor, saying, “The plush and homey atmosphere of the place, comfortable sofas and delightful variety of art covering the walls, contributed to our good vibes.”
Other bars on The Guardian’s list were Skajo in Freiburg, Park in Lisbon, Frank’s Café in London, Konak Café in Istanbul, La Pedera in Barcelona, The Nebotičnik in Ljubljana, Rinascente in Palermo, 360Bar in Budapest, and Locavore Bar in Västerås.
